It seems that the unprecedented letter of Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, based on Article 99 of the Organization’s Charter, to the Security Council for immediate action to establish a ceasefire in Gaza has once again upset the Foreign Minister of the Zionist regime.
On Wednesday evening, in a letter based on Article 99 of the UN Charter, which deals with threats to world peace, he warned the UN Security Council about the situation in Gaza and announced: “The situation in Gaza threatens international peace and security, and the international community must use its influence to end this crisis.”
Guterres asked the members of the UN Security Council to prevent a humanitarian crisis by exerting pressure and called for a humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
In the text of Article 99 of the UN Charter, it is stated that the Secretary General can seek the opinion of the Security Council on any issue that threatens the maintenance of international peace and security, and call the members of this Council to hold an urgent meeting in order to take immediate action for the crisis. An article that has been used only 9 times in the history of the United Nations, and this is the first time that it has been used during Guterres’ presidency of the United Nations since 2017.

This is not the first time that Guterres has been attacked by the Zionist regime and Cohen himself. Last October, the foreign minister of Netanyahu’s cabinet described him as unqualified to lead the international organization and asked him to resign.
Cohen even canceled a meeting with Guterres on the sidelines of the Security Council meeting because he had condemned the clear violation of human rights and international law in Gaza and called for an immediate ceasefire in the region.
