PNN – Thailand’s prime minister has rejected the US president’s claim that a roadside bomb explosion targeting Thai troops was accidental, stressing that the war with Cambodia will continue.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al Jazeera, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said in a Facebook message that Thailand would continue its military operations until there is no threat to its land and people.

Referring to air strikes carried out by Thai fighter jets on positions inside Cambodian territory, he added that the actions taken on Tuesday morning clearly reflect Thailand’s position.

The Thai prime minister dismissed recent remarks by US President Donald Trump, who described the roadside blast that killed Thai soldiers as accidental, emphasizing that the explosions were certainly not accidental.

Last Friday, Trump said on his social media platform, Truth Social, that the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia had agreed to stop the fighting and return to a peace agreement. He also claimed that the roadside explosion which killed and wounded several Thai soldiers was “accidental”.

Despite Trump’s assertion that the clashes have stopped, Cambodia’s Ministry of Defense said Thai F-16 fighter jets are still bombing targets inside the country.

The fighting is taking place along the 800-kilometer border between Thailand and Cambodia and stems from long-standing disputes over the ownership of historic temples. The recent clashes have displaced around half a million people in both countries and killed at least 20 people.
