The American security official turned out to be a Korean spy’

According to, the US federal prosecutor announced that “Sue Mittery”, an official of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and a senior expert on North Korean issues, has secretly cooperated with South Korean intelligence agencies for more than a decade.

In an indictment released by the Southern District of New York, prosecutors accused the former CIA official of failing to identify himself as a foreign agent and conspiracy to violate the Foreign Agents Registration Act.

The 31-page indictment also states that Terry made public statements supporting the South Korean government provided US government information to South Korean security agencies and was in contact with them.

As stated in the indictment, this American spy received luxury handbags, expensive dinners, and more than 37 thousand dollars in exchange for transferring this confidential government information to South Korea.

However, the indictment states that “Despite his extensive activities for South Korean authorities and government, Terry never identified himself as a foreign agent to the Attorney General as required by law.”

Terry, 54, was born in Seoul and grew up in Hawaii and Virginia. From 2001 to 2008, he was the senior analyst for Korean affairs for the CIA and later held high-ranking positions in the National Security Council and the National Intelligence Council.
