The analysis of Daily Beast on Trump’s decisions

Daily Beast

PNN – In an analytical note, The Daily Beast sharply criticized Trump’s role in the events related to the Iran war, describing him as one of the most controversial power holders.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; in an analysis by one of its writers, the Daily Beast called Donald Trump “the most powerful idiot in history,” referring to his performance in the Iran war and recent negotiations.

Referring to Trump’s penchant for titles and awards, the writer wrote that Trump has proven himself worthy of a real title in recent days: the most powerful idiot in the history of the world.

The Folly of Aggression against Iran

This American publication describes the Iran war as “wrong, ill-considered, and getting worse every day,” and writes that this war has so far resulted in the deaths of more than 3,000 people in Iran, more than 1,000 in Lebanon, the displacement of more than 1 million people, the deaths of 13 American soldiers, costs of tens of billions of dollars, instability in the Middle East, weakening NATO, weakening support for Ukraine, and unprecedented damage to America’s position in the world, without providing any strategic benefit to America.

The analysis continues: The US has not achieved any of its goals in Iran, and Iran has retained all of its enriched uranium, still has huge stockpiles of missiles and drones, and is rebuilding them with the help of China and others. Furthermore, Iran has gained significant leverage to influence the global economy with its decision to block traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

The author writes that the Iraq war was also a disaster, but “was it as stupid as this war?”

According to the publication, in the Iraq war, the Bush administration planned, enlisted the help of expert advisers and tried to win over global and domestic support. When it became clear that the strategy was not working, Bush also accepted the idea of changing the approach. But in the war against Iran, Trump has categorically rejected warnings, ignored history, dismissed all sensible advice and been blind to his own shortcomings and those of his incompetent and sycophantic team.

A long list of Trump’s recent follies

  1. Threatening to destroy Iranian civilization: Trump has branded himself a “genocidal lunatic” and joined a very small club of the world’s worst people (Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot). But none of these backed down and hid behind a ceasefire within hours of the threat.
  2. Sending Three Incompetents to Islamabad Talks: Trump sent the “Three Incompetents” (J.D. Vance, Steve Whittaker, and Jared Kushner) to Islamabad to negotiate with 60 Iranian experts, without any pre-established rationale for an agreement. Vance has no negotiating background. Whittaker’s background is limited to failure in Ukraine and a troubled ceasefire in Gaza. Kushner (who is not even a government official) had nothing to do with these talks either. The whole negotiation was a sham from the start, and when it was certain to fail, Vance and his entourage returned home.
  3. Attending a UFC event in the midst of a crisis: Instead of attending the talks, Trump went to a UFC event in Miami with his Secretary of State and national security adviser Marco Rubio. “This is the stupidest place for a president and top national security adviser to be in a time of national crisis,” the author writes.
  4. Blockade: Trump announced that the next hostile act of the United States would be a “blockade of the strait.” This is an act of war. But the stupid thing is that this blockade is a response to tensions. In other words, like the logic of a 4-year-old in a fight on the kindergarten playground, Trump has forced the most powerful nation on earth to stamp its foot and say: “Oh, well, I’ll answer your blockade with a blockade.” Trump doesn’t seem to care that such a blockade would worsen the global energy crisis. Never mind that Iran is a large country with land borders with seven other countries. Never mind that the action is dangerous to Iranian civilians and therefore illegal under international law. Never mind that many of the ships passing through the strait belong to our allies, who will now see us as a double obstacle to their economic needs. Never mind that the first time a Chinese-flagged ship tries to challenge the blockade, it will bring a confrontation with China and serious consequences.
  5. Changing the name of the Persian Gulf to “Trump Gulf”: In the midst of all this crisis, Trump told Fox News that he was seriously considering renaming the Persian Gulf “Trump Gulf.” That was also pretty stupid. Trump’s real Gulf is that huge empty space between “our president’s ears.”

The author concludes: No evil leader in the past would have sent three idiots to negotiate with 60 Iranian experts without any reasonable basis for agreement. None of them would have backed down hours later after threatening to destroy a civilization. None of them would have gone to see a UFC fight in the middle of a national crisis. None of them would have responded to a blockade with a blockade, and none of them would have thought to rename an international bay after themselves in the midst of all this. Trump is just an idiot with authority and power.
