The British Defense Minister’s warning about the consequences of Russia’s victory over Ukraine

PNN – British Defense Secretary warned on Sunday that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s victory in the war with Ukraine will have dire consequences for the West.

According to Pakistan News Network, British Defense Minister Grant Shapps said in an interview with the Sunday Times newspaper on Sunday that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s victory in the war with Ukraine has “difficult consequences” for the West.

“If we let Putin win by prolonging the war, then we will suffer the consequences, and the consequences for Europe, for Britain and for the world will be very severe,” Shapps said.

Before the war, Russia and Ukraine held several rounds of negotiations to get out of the crisis, but their negotiations eventually reached a dead end.

India’s foreign minister’s visit to Russia

In February 2022, after experiencing several months of tension with NATO, Russia started a special military operation with the mission of demilitarization and de-Nazification of the country following the request for help from the republics of the Donbass region in eastern Ukraine.

Shapps was previously the British energy minister and replaced Ben Wallace, the resigned British defense minister. He added: “This could have consequences in the Indian and Pacific oceans or other places. So we have to win this war in the real sense.”

“Defense spending in the West, including in England, is not enough to eliminate the threat of Russia’s resurgence,” Shaps said.

Britain spent $2.9 billion on military aid to Ukraine last year. Before the Russian operation in February 2022 in Ukraine, the Europeans created the ground for the war in Ukraine with their hostility against Russia and ignoring Moscow’s demands and security interests, and during this operation, they provided all-round support to Ukraine.

Shapps said that providing support to Ukraine is not a charitable approach. “I know it’s often called a gift … but it’s actually for our own good,” he said.
