PNN – Some Germans Jews say that their country defends Israel a lot and that is why they have been exposed to anti-Semitic violence.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, in the Economist article published on January 4, 2024, it was mentioned that the Germans are trying to get rid of the guilt for the disaster that they blame themselves for! As a result, they are not willing to tolerate any threats against Israel (as a way to save the Jews)!
According to this report, what the following people and many others have in common is that they have been abruptly removed from various events in Germany over the past few months (for fear of making anti-Semitic comments). These people, many of whom are Jews, were: Bernie Sanders (US Senator), an Indian poet, a political thinker from Australia, a folk theater group from Ireland, an artist architect from the UK, a photographer from Bangladesh, a Holocaust historian from the US, a Chilean composer, a naturalized playwright Israeli-Austrian duo, a Dutch soccer player, a Nigerian-German journalist, a Palestinian novelist!
Germany’s extreme sensitivities towards anti-Semitism did not start from October 7th, but the basis of such sensitivities is related to the killing of 6 million Jews by the Nazi government.
One of the solutions for the recent German generations to find peace in the face of the horror and tragedy of the killing of the Jews has been to welcome the formation of the state of Israel as a happy ending to end the nightmare of the Jews; A nightmare created by the Germans!

The results of a research group confirm the words of the British-Israeli scientist Eyal Weisman years ago, who said that the Germans are trying to get rid of the guilt for the disaster that they blame themselves for! As a result, they are not willing to tolerate any threats against Israel (as a way to save the Jews)! Such an attitude towards the Jews has been formed decades ago, that is, when the Germans decided to pay diah (damage) to the Jews; not only to the Jews saved from the Holocaust, but also to the State of Israel!
At the end of the sixties of the last century, with the opening of the darkest parts of German history, the crimes of the Germans against the Jews were revealed. In a long-term process to achieve their new national identity, Germans had to come to terms with their (disastrous) past and try to get rid of their bitter and ugly memories.
When Angela Merkel was the chancellor of Germany, he emphasized Germany’s special responsibility towards Israel and considered the provision of Israel’s security as part of the German government’s intellectual system.
In 2019, by the way, the “Alternative for Germany” party, which was widely accused of fascism, in order to declare its innocence from this accusation, initiated a plan and a bill in the German parliament, according to which any request to boycott Israel, is considered as “anti-Semitism”. In this way, any opposition to Israel is considered as an act of enmity against all the Jews of the world! In this regard, and in order to follow up on cases of opposition to Israel, the German government created a high commission to investigate anti-Semitism!
Germany’s unilateral actions and positions in favor of Israel during the Gaza war have caused German Jews to suffer, so that some Jews in Germany believe that Germany’s boundless and unilateral support to Israel is more to the detriment of the Jews! A Jewish composer in Frankfurt who is a critic of Israel says: Apparently, the German government is going to decide who is a Jew?! And how should a Jew be?!
Perhaps the advice that an Israeli recently gave to the Germans is more understandable for the Germans. He said in a seminar in Berlin: If you want to be a good friend to Israel, it is better to criticize your friend!
