The continuation of America’s support for Israel’s crimes, according to the New York Times

PNN – In an article referring to the continuation of Israel’s criminal attacks on Gaza, the New York Times wrote: Despite being unhappy with the situation of civilians in Gaza, Joe Biden’s government has not made any changes in its policy towards this regime.

According to Pakistan News Network from this American newspaper, although Joe Biden’s government is putting pressure on Israel to protect the lives of civilians in Gaza, it has not specified what consequences it will face if Israel does not comply with this issue.

According to this popular newspaper, the officials of the Biden administration say that Israel should do more to limit civilian casualties and humanitarian aid to Gaza. But its position is still far away from the Arab countries that are demanding an immediate ceasefire and criticizing Israel’s attacks in Gaza.

The ministers of Saudi Arabia and several other Arab countries announced in a press conference on Friday during their trip to Washington that Israel’s attacks must stop, and even Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi accused Israel of massacre.

But the US has not shown any change in its position and yesterday, Friday, it vetoed the Security Council resolution, which was drafted by the United Arab Emirates and called for a humanitarian ceasefire.

According to this newspaper, although Biden is under internal and external pressure regarding the Gaza issue, no significant action has been taken in this regard. White House officials have so far ignored talk of cutting off or conditioning military aid to Israel and have announced that they have not given Israel a definite deadline to end attacks on Gaza.

On Thursday, nearly a week after the failure of the temporary ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken settled for the position that the US is dissatisfied with the killing of civilians and the humanitarian conditions in Gaza.

Blinken, who made these statements at a press conference in Washington, continued: “There is a gap between Israel’s stated goals to protect civilian lives and the actual results we see.”

Israeli officials, on the other hand, argue that they are in an impossible position and have declared Hamas responsible for the current crimes in Gaza.

In the meantime, a group of Democrats present in the Congress also say that the United States should act in front of Israel beyond dialogue.

In this context, Senator Chris Van Hollen said: “I think the Biden administration can do more to use the leverage we have against Israel.” He added: “When words don’t match actions, America looks weak and ineffective.”

The Democratic senator continued to emphasize: “The Biden administration should demand a halt to the attacks on Gaza until a verifiable action plan is presented by Israel to meet the president’s goals.”

So far, Washington has stated several times in response to protests against the ceasefire that it will allow Hamas leaders to threaten Israel again and perpetuate the cycle of violence. American officials have not even shown a desire to provide a time limit to Israel to end the massive attacks; Attacks that analysts say could last weeks or months.

Dennis Ross, one of the Middle East policy officials in several American governments, said about Biden’s position towards Israel: “Biden will likely continue to resist domestic and foreign pressure to take a tougher stance against Israel.”

He then added: “But if the war is prolonged, it is possible that Biden will quietly slow down the process of sending ammunition to Israel.”
