The continuation of doctors’ protests in South Korea and the decrease in the popularity of the president

PNN – Recent polls in South Korea show that the continued protest of doctors on the issue of increasing the admission capacity of medical schools has caused the popularity of the government and President Yoon Suk Yeol to decrease.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Yonhap, the results of the latest polls show that the popularity of Yoon Suk-yeol, the president of South Korea, has decreased to 36%. It is said that some of these dissatisfactions are related to the recent protest of doctors in South Korea, who want to reduce the capacity of medical schools.

According to the Gallup poll conducted from Tuesday to Thursday, the favorable assessment of Ion fell by three percentage points, while the negative assessment increased by three percentage points to 57 percent.

The government’s recent plan to add 2,000 registration quotas in medical colleges across the country has brought a huge wave of protests from doctors and medical students in the past days.

As protests and strikes by doctors continue in South Korea, the country’s government has threatened to punish doctors and medical trainees who do not return to work by the end of this month.

The government has previously warned that it may take legal action against doctors who do not obey the order to return to work, including revocation of medical licenses, prosecution and even possible arrest.

The protesting young doctors say that the government should first address the conditions of salaries and working hours before trying to increase the number of doctors.
