The continuation of pro-Palestinian student protests in Europe according to the Guardian

PNN – The Guardian wrote: On the eve of the vote in the organization to recognize the state of Palestine, the police arrested dozens of people in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and students continued their sit-in at universities in the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Guardian added: On the second day of the protests against the Gaza war in this country, the Dutch police arrested 32 people after disbanding the protests at the University of Amsterdam under the pretext of committing crimes such as acts of public violence, vandalism and physical assault.

The images recorded by the Reuters news agency also show that the police officers were hoping to push back the protesters using anti-riot equipment.

The report contained images of students being dragged to the ground by the police while shouting “Shame on you”.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said: The events that happened in the university crossed the red line.

In a message on the social network, he claimed: the protesters have used violence against the police and this process must be stopped.

In Spain, protests and student camps have continued in several universities across the country, and at the University of Valencia, where protest tents have been erected since 11 days ago, a gathering of approximately 50 people wants the Spanish government to cut off its relations with the Israeli regime.

At the Complutense University of Madrid, about 200 students gathered in 80 tents that have been erected since the beginning of this week. Similar projects have been implemented in the universities of Barcelona and the Basque Country.

The protests in Spain have been supported by Dina Morant, Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities. He told reporters this week that he is “proud” of the students’ action.

This Spanish official said: Apart from being an academic place, Spanish universities should be a place for critical thinking.

Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris also said this week that he had a conversation with his Spanish counterpart, Pedro Sanchez, and that both sides have a common desire to recognize the state of Palestine. He wrote on social media that we are both interested in rapid progress in this matter and our governments are in close contact with each other.

Ireland has also committed itself to a positive vote for this resolution. Ireland’s Foreign Minister Michael Martin also said at the meeting of the Green Party: “His country is ready to vote positively for the full membership of Palestine in the United Nations.”
