The coordinates of Rafah city and the dimensions of the disaster of the ground operation of the Zionist regime.
According to Al Jazeera, the city of Rafah is a historical city in the south of the Gaza Strip, which dates back to more than 5 thousand years ago. This area is located near the border of Egypt and is considered a land passage from Gaza to the world. Rafah is considered a strategic and sensitive axis in the region due to being on the line of confrontation with the Zionist regime.
Another aspect of the importance of this strategic area during the Gaza war is the migration of hundreds of thousands of Gazans from different regions to this city. The number of the main residents of this area before the recent war was 260 thousand people, but currently there are more than 1 million 400 thousand Palestinians in this area who are living in difficult humanitarian conditions and the ground attack of the Zionist regime has affected their livelihood and security situation. It will make it harder.
Rafah’s difficult geography for military operations
Rafah leads from the north to Khan Yunis, from the south to the Egyptian lands, from the west to the Mediterranean Sea, and from the east to the area known as the Green Line, which is the border between the Palestinian territories of 1967 and the occupied lands.
This area is only 48 meters above sea level, and most of it is a coastal strip, and at the same time, it is located in the vicinity of the Sinai desert, where the Zionist regime tried to use this area as an alternative homeland for the people of Gaza. But it was opposed by Egypt and the residents of Gaza and other Arab and Islamic countries.
The city of Rafah consists of 10 neighborhoods and districts, which are: Al-Mawasi area, Tal Al-Sultan, the city center, Al-Hashash area, West Rafah, Al-Nakhla, Khirbat al-Adas, Hai al-Salam, Al-Junaina and Al-Buyuk. The location of this area is only 63 square kilometers.
The climate of this region is desert and has long hot and humid summers and cold and dry winters. The average temperature in summer in this region is 31 degrees.
The inhuman dimensions of military operations in the prosperity and anger of the international community
Becoming the main vital artery of the people of Gaza is another reason for the strategic importance of the Rafah region. The Rafah crossing was one of the few active crossings in Gaza during the almost two-decade siege of this area.
International circles and the vast majority of members of the international community and Western countries have assessed the beginning of ground military operations in this region as a disaster due to the high human concentration in this region. Western countries supporting Tel Aviv believe that the increase in civilian casualties as a result of this operation will spread global anger against the Zionist regime, and this issue can be dangerous for Tel Aviv. Other countries have also warned about the high volume of possible civilian casualties in this region.
The resistance battalions in Rafah are ready for war with their full potential
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Karim al-Falahi, an expert on military and strategic issues and a staff brigadier, emphasized that Israel’s military operation in Rafah will not be easy for the army of this regime, because the resistance battalions in this area are ready to fight with all their potential and facilities.
According to the reports provided by the Zionist army, there are 4 battalions affiliated with the resistance groups in Rafah, which are said to have not been involved in past conflicts in Gaza and are in full readiness in terms of manpower and military equipment. In addition, these forces will fight in an environment that they are completely familiar with, and the vast network of Rafah tunnels will also help them.
The experience of the Zionist army’s conflict in other areas of Gaza also shows the complexity of this operation for the Zionist military. In the past conflicts, 1,300 units of military equipment of the Zionist enemy have been destroyed and the occupation army has been forced to retreat from Khan Yunis.
Al-Jazeera quotes this expert on military issues and adds that in addition to these problems, the Zionist army has also suffered erosion and has suffered many casualties in past conflicts. Al Falahi also pointed to the extensive coordination between the resistance groups and emphasized that the operation room of these groups has been formed and there is a very high level of coordination between them.
