The crimes in Gaza are a clear example of systematic genocide/ a risky future awaits the Israeli regime

PNN – An expert on regional issues stated that America’s unconditional support for the Zionist regime is rooted, above all, in geopolitical calculations, and said: What is happening in Gaza today is clearly an example of systematic genocide and a crime against humanity.

In an interview with an international reporter on Wednesday, Abed Akbari stated about the recent crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza and the regime’s continuous violation of human rights in the shadow of the silence of international forums and the full support of the United States: According to the report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (April 2025), more than 37,000 Palestinians have been martyred as a result of Israeli attacks, with about 70 percent of the victims being women and children.

He added: What is happening in Gaza today is clearly an example of systematic genocide and a crime against humanity.

This expert on regional issues, referring to the continuous targeting of civilian infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, refugee camps, and relief organizations, stated: These actions are a clear violation of Article 51 of Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions and Article 8 of the Statute of the International Criminal Court, articles that emphasize the obligation to protect civilians during armed conflicts.

Citing the provisions of the 1948 Convention on the Prevention of Genocide, he emphasized: According to this convention, any act committed with the intent to “destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group,” constitutes genocide. What is happening in Gaza today encompasses all the elements defined in this international document: Killing members of the group, imposing unbearable living conditions, causing severe physical and psychological harm, and forcibly transferring children.

Akbari continued, referring to reports from independent human rights organizations: These actions have been assessed by some of these organizations as “collective punishment” and in some cases even “potential genocide.”

This international affairs expert criticized the performance of international institutions and said: The performance of these bodies has not only been ineffective, but in some cases it is considered a form of indirect complicity with the perpetrators of crimes.

He added: Among the eight resolutions proposed for a humanitarian ceasefire in the UN Security Council, at least four have been vetoed by the United States.

Akbari also pointed to the International Criminal Court’s procrastination, adding: Despite complaints filed by numerous countries, the court has not yet issued any indictments against the officials of the Zionist regime. This procrastination has turned international legal institutions into passive spectators of the developments in Gaza, instead of guarantors of justice.

The regional expert continued: America’s unconditional support for the Zionist regime is rooted, above all, in geopolitical calculations. However, global public opinion, the divide on the Western front, and pressures from civil society institutions are gradually changing this equation.

Akbari concluded by noting: From a domestic perspective, the continued resistance of the Palestinian people and the increase in military, political, and psychological costs for the Zionist regime will create a dangerous and unstable future for the regime’s extremist policies.

On October 7, 2023, the Israeli regime launched a war against the Gaza Strip with two main goals: to destroy the Hamas movement and return the Zionist prisoners from the region; but it failed to achieve these goals and was forced to reach an agreement with the Hamas movement to exchange prisoners.

On January 19, 2025, based on an agreement between Hamas and the Israeli regime, a ceasefire was established in the Gaza Strip, and a number of prisoners were exchanged; however, the Israeli regime subsequently refused to enter into the second phase of the ceasefire negotiations and, in violation of the ceasefire provisions, resumed its military aggression against the Gaza Strip. In return, the resistance fighters responded to these aggressions with numerous operations.

According to the latest statistics, 51,266 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, and 116,991 people have been injured.
