The crisis of Israeli refugees after the Al-Aqsa storm – the unseen dimensions of the war in Gaza.
Following the surprise attack of the Palestinian resistance forces on Israeli settlements on October 7th, 2023, and also following the beginning of limited clashes between Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Israel since October 8th, the Zionist regime was forced to gradually build more than evacuate 105 neighborhoods and towns and transfer their population of about 200,000 to the more central areas of the occupied territories.
This aspect of the consequences of the recent war for Israelis, along with 1,500 dead, 6,000 wounded, and at least 242 prisoners, has been less studied and analyzed by the world media. This is the first time that in the conflicts between Israel and Palestine, a large group of residents of the occupied territories also face the problem of homelessness and displacement.
The Emergency Management Department of the Ministry of War of Israel announced on October 22 that it had taken in about 120,000 displaced Israelis. This number has been removed from 53 neighborhoods and towns located around the Gaza Strip. Sderot town is one of the biggest towns in the southern border strip where 36 thousand Zionists live.
