Mohammad Ali Basiri, an international affairs analyst, said about the importance of the Saudi Defense Minister’s visit to Tehran with a 70-member delegation amid US President Donald Trump’s threats against Iran: “Even though the United States has tried in recent years to present the image to the world that Saudi Arabia or countries aligned with Saudi Arabia are among America’s closest allies; But these governments have come to the conclusion in recent years that to protect their national interests, they must act outside the circle of the demands of the United States and the Zionist regime.

He added: It seems that Saudi Arabia and the Persian Gulf countries have realized this reality and must use experiences from near and far, which is why they are trying to put rationality and calculation on their agenda by changing their strategies and approaches to the demands of the United States and the Zionist regime in the region; for this reason, their type of outlook, cooperation, and ties with Iran have changed compared to the past.

The international affairs analyst stated: Countries like Saudi Arabia have realized that the United States did not and does not have mercy on even its closest allies, including Europe and the West, Iran during the Shah’s, Saddam’s, and… times, because the Americans, based on the requirements of protecting their interests, even to the point of war, overthrow, and confiscation of the regime’s assets.
