The European Union agrees to impose the 16th package of sanctions against Russia!
According to Euronews, representatives of the European Union member states have agreed to impose the 16th package of sanctions against Russia.
According to sources, the package includes a ban on aluminum imports from Russia.
Sources reported that the package will be reviewed on Thursday and its final approval on Friday (February 21). The package is being approved as the Russia-Ukraine war officially enters its third year on February 24, 2025.
This comes as US and Russian diplomatic delegations met in Riyadh yesterday (Tuesday) to discuss a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine war.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who attended the meeting, said that Europe will eventually enter the negotiations because they are the other party that has imposed sanctions and must negotiate to ease the sanctions against Russia.
He pointed out that all sides must make “concessions” to achieve peace in Ukraine, and said that “no one will be left out of the negotiations.”
