The European Union approved the 14th package of sanctions against Russia

PNN – The Council of Foreign Ministers of the European Union approved the 14th package of sanctions against the Moscow government on Monday, in continuation of the hostile positions of the West against Russia and under the pretext of the war in Ukraine.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, this sanctions package, according to a statement published on the EU website, “is designed to target valuable sectors of the Russian economy and make it more difficult to circumvent EU sanctions.”

According to the issued statement, 116 individuals and entities related to the Russian government have been added to the EU sanctions list under the pretext of weakening or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. The new sanctions against Russia include restrictive measures on financial issues, Russian liquefied natural gas, transportation and companies involved in evading sanctions against Moscow.

EU foreign policy chief Josep Burrell claimed: Our sanctions have already significantly weakened the Russian economy and prevented Vladimir Putin (President of Russia) from implementing his plans to destroy Ukraine.

He added: The 14th package of sanctions shows our unity in supporting Ukraine and efforts to limit Russia’s activities against Ukrainians, including efforts to circumvent sanctions.

Last week, after weeks of discussions, EU ambassadors agreed to intensify sanctions against Russia. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the European Union has fueled tensions and conflicts by imposing extensive sanctions against Moscow, sending weapons and military equipment to the Kiev front.

In response to Russia’s attack, America and Western countries have imposed extensive sanctions against Moscow and sent billions of dollars in weapons and military equipment to Kiev. Despite the unprecedented sanctions and the West’s efforts to isolate Russia, the Kremlin has managed to keep its economy afloat during the war.
