The European Union urged Islamabad and Kabul to respect the ceasefire.
“I contacted Mohammad Ishaq Dar to strongly condemn all terrorist acts,” Kaya Kalas wrote on social media X.
“The conflict with Afghanistan will cause casualties on both sides and expose the South Asian region to new instability,” she added.
The EU representative noted that all parties must extend the ceasefire and reduce tensions.
According to IRNA, Pakistani media reported that the two countries will hold talks in Doha today (Saturday), with the Pakistani Defense Minister and National Security Advisor (who is also the head of the military intelligence agency) forming the country’s delegation.
On October 9, Pakistan carried out an airstrike on Afghan soil aimed at assassinating Noor Wali Mehsud, the leader of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The attack escalated tensions between Islamabad and Kabul, sparking military and diplomatic responses from the Taliban-led government and new concerns about regional security.
