PNN – The reports of local news sources from Bolivia indicate the change of army commander and the failure of the coup in the presidential palace of this country.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing the Independent, local news sources in Bolivia reported that a military coup took place in the country on Wednesday, which is said to have been defeated by the president changing the army commander.
Bolivian President Luis Arce gave a speech to his supporters who had gathered outside the government palace after the failed coup and thanked them for their support and said: Long live democracy.
The president of Bolivia also announced in a press conference the failure of the coup in this country led by the commander in chief of the army and the arrest of General Juan Jose Zuniga, the leader of the coup plotters in La Paz, and said: I changed the commander of the army.
Ares also released a video and ordered the army commander to leave the presidential palace.
Addressing the army commander, Jose Zuniga, he said: I am your captain and I order you to withdraw your soldiers and I will not allow this disobedience.
Before entering the building, Zuniga told reporters that he still recognizes President Ares as the commander-in-chief of the army, but stressed that a new cabinet will be formed soon.
Jose Wilson Sánchez, the new commander of the army, after accepting his position, ordered the withdrawal of military forces to their base.
A senior government official in Bolivia said a few hours ago, referring to the movement of army soldiers in the streets leading to the presidential palace, that a coup is underway.
