PNN – Diplomats from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt met in Pakistan on Sunday to discuss ways to prevent further escalation of the conflict in the region and to continue their mediation efforts. After a few hours, the first round of talks for today ended.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Pakistan is hosting consultations today to resolve tensions in the region, sparked by the American-Zionist attacks on Iran since March 29. This is the second aggression on Iranian soil since June.
The foreign ministers of Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan met in Islamabad to discuss de-escalation in the US-Israeli war with Iran and other regional issues.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif then met privately with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar was also present at the meeting, along with National Security Advisor and Director General of the Internal Security Agency, Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik.
A joint statement is expected to be issued soon.
According to the ministry, bin Farhan met with his Pakistani counterpart, Mohammad Ishaq Dar. According to Al Arabiya, the Saudi foreign minister discussed joint diplomatic efforts with his Pakistani counterpart regarding regional developments.
Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with his Pakistani counterpart within the framework of an upcoming meeting today on reducing tensions in the region. The Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah reported that Fidan discussed the current war in the region with his Pakistani counterpart.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati also joined the Pakistani talks. The four-way talks, aimed at ending the conflict in the region, continue today and tomorrow.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced that he had a long telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezishkiyan, which lasted more than an hour, as part of preparations for the meeting.
Shahbar Sharif wrote on his account on the “X” platform: Once again, I strongly condemn Israel’s continued attacks on Iran, including its recent attacks on civilian infrastructure, and I express Pakistan’s sympathy with the brave Iranian nation.
