The former Hague prosecutor called for the creation of an international law mechanism to hold Israel accountable

PNN – Luis Moreno Ocambo, the former prosecutor of the International Court of Justice, reacted to the recent crime committed by the Zionist regime in Khan Yunis, and called for the creation of an international law mechanism to hold Israel accountable.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, in an exclusive interview with Al-Jazeera, Okambo stated that the crime committed by the Zionists in al-Mawasi is a war crime and that an immediate investigation should be conducted regarding this incident.

He considered this action of the Israeli army as a violation of the recent resolution of the International Court of Justice for a cease-fire and cessation of conflict.

He added: Israel has expressed its intention for al-Mawasi’s crime, while the International Court of Justice warned Israel almost a month ago that it has no right to attack Rafah, because there is no safe place for Palestinian civilians to take refuge.

Okambo said that the international community can set up a mechanism to punish countries that obstruct the implementation of the peace process and stop the conflict.

He emphasized that the problem is not the international law, but the interpretation of the law and its implementation by some countries.

Despite ongoing negotiations for a ceasefire and exchange of prisoners, the Zionist occupying army committed two brutal crimes in Khan Yunis and Gaza today, during which more than 400 Palestinians were martyred and injured.

This area in the south of the Gaza Strip was the settlement of thousands of Palestinian refugees, which was targeted by the Zionist regime’s warplanes.

“Stephane Dujarric,” the spokesman of the United Nations, had previously announced that nowhere in Gaza is safe and more efforts should be made to protect civilians. We need an immediate cessation of hostilities to end the cycle of violence for the people of Gaza and for humanitarian aid to reach them.

According to the statistics of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, as a result of the attacks of the Zionist regime since October 7, more than 38 thousand Palestinians have been martyred and more than 88 thousand others have been injured.

In a speech on Saturday night, Khalil al-Hiya, the deputy head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement, blamed Benjamin Netanyahu for the failure of negotiations and the failure to reach an agreement.
