The French lawmaker emphasized the support for Palestine: “I chose the right side of history”.

PNN – A Left-wing French lawmaker who was reprimanded for raising the Palestinian flag in the country’s parliament said he would rather be on the right side of history than adhere to the rules of the National Assembly.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Reuters news agency reported that The lower house of France suspended Sebastien Delogu, a left-wing representative and a member of the party (LFI), for waving the Palestinian flag in the severest possible punishment and deducting half of his salary for 2 months.

Meanwhile, Delugo told Reuters: This is the first time that a foreign flag is raised in the parliament, but considering the killing of people on the other side of the Mediterranean Sea, it is an appropriate action.

The party (LFI) is the defender of the Palestinians and has put this issue in the focus of the June 9 European Parliament election campaign.

This party, unlike other parties, did not describe the October 7 attack by Hamas on Israel as a “terrorist” act and rejected the charge of anti-Semitism by some critics.

French President Emmanuel Macron said on June 8 that he is ready to recognize the independent state of Palestine, but this should be done at the “right time”. Macron stated: There is no taboo for France and I am fully ready to recognize the Palestinian state, but in my opinion, this recognition should be done at an appropriate time.

He claimed that he does not recognize the state of Palestine based on feelings. The decision of Spain, Norway and Ireland to recognize Palestine has fueled the debate. 27 EU countries have differences in this regard.
