The Gaza occupation plan: From internal Zionist disputes to the challenges ahead

challenges

PNN – A Zionist newspaper, referring to the approval of the Gaza occupation plan by the Zionist cabinet, pointed out the differences between the military and political levels and the challenges facing the implementation of this plan.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing the Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed news website, one of the most prominent issues of concern to the Israeli army command over the next two weeks, after the cabinet approves the Gaza occupation plan, is the timing of the call-up of reserve soldiers to carry out long-term military operations and the number of people who will be called up.

The Zionist newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth writes in this regard that Eyal Zamir, the Chief of Staff of the Army, will likely receive the general outlines and main points of the ideas put forward in the Southern Command for a ground operation in Gaza by the end of this week, but it is already clear that such an offensive operation will not be carried out on a large scale until at least the end of this month.

The newspaper attributes the delay to the military command being aware of the level of exhaustion of many reservists and believes that calling them up during the summer holidays will place additional pressure on them.

The report goes on to point out the various limitations the Zionist regime faces in implementing this plan, from a lack of manpower to international pressure, the technical readiness levels of tanks and armored personnel carriers, and the lack of ammunition and weapons for the army, especially in ground combat, and emphasizes that one of the most important obstacles is Tel Aviv’s lack of knowledge of the location of Israeli prisoners.

Yedioth Aharonot, relying on Israeli military estimates, writes that Hamas will not only strengthen the protection of Israeli prisoners in underground tunnels, but may also transfer them to different locations in the near future. Zamir explained to the political leaders of the Israeli regime that “his red line will never change,” meaning that the army will not attack areas where there is information indicating the presence of Israeli prisoners.

On the other hand, the Zionist military has become deeply distrustful of the promises of their military commanders. Previously, the Zionist military in the reservists were promised that the military service period of the reservists this year would not exceed two and a half months, but this promise was repeatedly broken during Operation Gideon’s Chariots. This is while the reserve forces are scheduled to be called up again in November and December to carry out operational missions in Gaza or the West Bank.

The gradual nature of the Gaza occupation plan

Despite the approval of the Gaza occupation plan by Netanyahu’s cabinet, the details and speed of its implementation have been left to the army, while the army command opposed the Gaza occupation plan and proposed a plan based on a blockade of Gaza so that its soldiers would have less involvement in the war. This will delay the implementation of the plan and make its implementation stages gradual.

Yedioth Aharonot believes that the various preparations for the Gaza occupation operation, for which Netanyahu has set a deadline of next October, may begin with the siege of Gaza City after about two months, followed by an operation to attack urban areas and possibly tunnels.
