The General Assembly approved the resolution of an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
Following the failure of the Security Council to approve the resolution, Al Jazeera, citing diplomatic sources, announced the possibility of an immediate ceasefire resolution being approved by the UN General Assembly.
Citing diplomatic sources in the United Nations, Al Jazeera reported the presentation of a draft resolution in the General Assembly of this organization on Tuesday.
Diplomatic sources say the draft resolution to be adopted by the General Assembly on Tuesday will call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
These diplomatic sources have also said that the draft resolution submitted to the General Assembly calls for the immediate and unconditional release of the hostages.
The resolution also calls for support for civilians in Gaza.
The presentation of this resolution in the General Assembly was proposed after the failure of the UN Security Council to approve the proposed resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza.
This resolution failed due to the US veto.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres criticized the Security Council in a rare move and emphasized that the Security Council’s inability to prevent the continuation of the Gaza war has weakened the position of the Council.
Guterres said on this occasion: I asked the Security Council to put pressure to prevent a humanitarian disaster and I repeated my request to declare a humanitarian ceasefire.
“Unfortunately, the Security Council could not do this,” he said.
