The Golani government’s repressive moves to forcibly displace Alawites from Damascus

PNN – The group known as the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that forces affiliated with the so-called Syrian Interim Government attacked an Alawites neighborhood in Damascus today, ordering residents to evacuate their homes within a few hours.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, while the security crackdown by Abu Mohammad al-Julani’s administration against various religious groups in Syria—especially Alawites—continues, Syrian sources say new measures have been taken to pressure and displace Alawite residents.

Citing the newspaper al-Akhbar, the Observatory said armed groups linked to the Interim Government, led by al-Julani, are increasing pressure on Alawite neighborhoods in Damascus. Their aim is to force residents to abandon their homes through harassment and coercive tactics.

The report states that the commander of these armed groups in the al-Sumariyah district issued a verbal warning to Alawite residents, telling them they must vacate the homes marked in green on local maps within 24 hours. He also threatened that demolition of these houses would begin within the next few hours.

The warning caused panic among residents, who described it as a direct attempt to force them out and drive them into displacement.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that residents of the al-Sumariyah neighborhood say the Syrian Interim Government is trying to create a new reality on the ground—forcing Alawite families to leave through daily security and economic pressure. According to the report, the goal is to empty Damascus of its Alawite population and impose a systematic demographic change.

Earlier, forces loyal to al-Julani built a separation wall around al-Sumariyah, completely isolating it from surrounding areas. The wall blocked vehicles and pedestrians and severely restricted residents’ movement into and out of the neighborhood. Locals say this was a deliberate attempt to force Alawites to abandon their homes.

In March, Syria’s coastal region witnessed sectarian violence and brutal massacres carried out by terrorist groups linked to al-Julani’s administration. Over just three days, 1,700 civilians—most of them Alawites, according to the Observatory—were killed.

A Syrian women’s activist recently revealed another crime committed by al-Julani’s forces: the execution of dozens of Alawite detainees in Homs. She said the atrocities of Julani’s armed groups resemble those committed by the Israeli regime.

Shawq Ibrahim, a Syrian writer and activist, said al-Julani is an international terrorist responsible for numerous crimes across Syria. She added that his armed factions commit some of the most horrific abuses against Alawites, Shias, Druze, and Christians.

The activist disclosed that dozens of Alawites were executed over a few days in prisons run by al-Julani’s forces in Homs province. She said what is happening in Syria amounts to a deliberate campaign of genocide and mass extermination of Alawites—through killing, forced displacement, and the looting of homes, property, and assets.
