PNN – In an article referring to the French president’s attempt to influence the process of electing the next government, the English newspaper Guardian wrote that the voters in the recent elections clearly opposed his policies and now Emmanuel Macron should respect their opinion.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the author of the Guardian article, referring to Macron’s obstacles in his path to becoming prime minister, wrote: The president announced by publishing a statement that he did not choose a prime minister from the left faction and claims that this faction will face a vote of no confidence without a majority in the parliament. Instead, he suggested that the possibility of forming the future government through a moderate coalition should be investigated.
The author of the Guardian, calling this stance “shocking” and “dangerous”, wrote: Francois Hollande, the former president of France, who is currently a member of the parliament and is not known as extremist, criticized Macron’s positions and described it as a “fundamental mistake”.

In the continuation of the Guardian’s article, it is stated: The president must not only be non-partisan, but also the principle of separation of powers does not allow him to interfere in the formation of the parliamentary majority. Those close to Macron revealed earlier this summer that he refuses to even make any fundamental changes in government policies.
Referring to the record low participation of the French in the recent elections, the author wrote: The voters in this election clearly rejected Macron and voted for change. Although none of the three main factions alone have the necessary majority to form the government, yet the president cannot decide which of the three factions, the right, the middle, and the left, deserves to form the government.
Macron, who once presented himself as a figure supporting change and making fundamental changes in the political system, now acts like a republican sultan who uses the excuse of “stability” to stonewall the path of democracy.
Macron is becoming an autocratic president whose popularity continues to decline. Such behavior cannot be accepted in a democracy. French voters clearly expressed their opposition to his policies. Now he must respect the opinion of voters.
