The Guardian: Trump’s plan for Gaza presented Arab countries with impossible options

PNN – The Guardian newspaper wrote that Donald Trump’s plan to forcibly evacuate the residents of Gaza has put the Arab countries in a precarious situation and faced them with impossible options.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, this media added: Last week, King Abdullah of Jordan got confused in the Oval Office of the White House (the office of the US President) when he was asked by reporters about Trump’s plan for ethnic cleansing. He is in trouble; He wants to keep Trump and does not agree with ethnic cleansing.

Soon after, Egyptian “unknown security sources” said that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will not accept an invitation to visit Washington as long as the Gaza evacuation plan is on the agenda.

The Guardian wrote, this position of the president of Egypt has internal consumption, because the country is not in a position to be hostile to the new American government, but it undoubtedly shows how much Trump is having trouble gaining the support of even America’s closest allies.

Saudi Arabia also postponed the trip to America as soon as Trump announced his intention to Gaza. The Saudis were on the path to normalizing relations with the Israeli regime until the Al-Aqsa storm operation on October 7 before changing their tone, but the country lost patience with the new position of the Trump administration. In response to Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s claim that Palestinians have a lot of land and that he is also interested in clearing Gaza of Palestinians, the Saudi media started a wave of attacks against him.

The Guardian added: Arab leaders are preparing their response to Trump’s plan at an emergency meeting on Thursday in Saudi Arabia. They also face the challenge of avoiding a confrontation with Trump and world public opinion about the illegality of the Gaza plan.

In response to the question of whether his government has common ground with Trump regarding Gaza, the UAE ambassador to America said: This approach is difficult. We are looking for a solution.

The clip of his words was immediately circulated on social networks as evidence of the UAE’s approval of the plan to clean up Gaza.

The Guardian added: It is clear that there is no agreement between Trump’s approach to Gaza and even the way to react to it, between countries that are politically considered a bloc but have conflicting interests.

Referring to the US Secretary of State Mark Rubio’s visit to the occupied territories and the Middle East, this media said: Opportunities are running out and now there is an urgent need for a common approach and strategy between the Arab countries.

This report added: With the increasing risks, it is impossible for the Arab countries to interact with the Israeli and American regimes in the context of Gaza without taking a bigger step.

There are other calculations. Agreeing to Trump’s plan involves expelling Palestinians, which makes all the countries that receive and facilitate these expulsions parties to a wider conflict between the Israeli and Palestinian regimes. Clearing the Palestinians from Gaza will be the beginning of something else instead of being the end of something.

Arab political elites find themselves in this painful position because of their historical weakness on the Palestinian issue: it shows their weakness and short-sighted self-interest. Trump’s plan is a gateway to the final erosion of the integrity and sovereignty of the Middle East on a wider level.
