An informed source had previously announced that Hari had decided to surrender to Nechirvan Barzani, the president of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, and would be Barzani’s guest for a week as part of an effort to create peace between his tribe and the Kuran tribe, which was the main focus of the clashes in recent days.

In this regard, the Social Affairs Committee within the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iraq is scheduled to meet this week to resolve differences between them through tribal and government mediators.

Clashes between security forces and elements of the Haraki tribe led to a curfew in the Khabat region and the closure of the region’s communication routes with Erbil, but ultimately, Shirvan Haraki, head of the Kurdistan People’s Union, announced a gradual return of peace to the region, saying that the transportation routes to Erbil, Dohuk, and Mosul have been reopened. He announced the number of casualties in these clashes at 4 and the number of injured at 12.

The initial wave of these clashes began on Tuesday, when, after the local government acquired part of the lands of the “Haraki tribe” in Khabat city of Erbil province, the leader of the Haraki tribe in this city did not comply with this order and clashed with government officials.

Following this incident, security forces went to the house of “Khorshid Harki”, the local leader of the Harki tribe in this city, with the intention of arresting him. They were met with resistance from the tribe’s elements, which sparked a military clash and led to the expansion of the conflict.
