The Associated Press reported on Wednesday, December 3, citing two sources familiar with the Pentagon investigation results.

According to one of these two sources, who wished to remain anonymous, the Inspector General’s report did not confirm that the Secretary of Defense acted illegally or improperly in this process.

The report states that the reviewed version was delivered to members of Congress, who were able to study it in a secure room in the Capitol building.

The public version of the report, with certain sections removed or redacted for public release, is expected to be published later this week.

Some domestic U.S. media have referred to this incident as the “Signal-gate” scandal.
