The impact of resistance ambushes on the course of the Gaza war; the tactical gap of the Zionist enemy.
According to Al Jazeera, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance has launched a strategic operation against the regime’s military forces, inflicting losses and casualties on the Israeli army forces, a month after the Israeli army resumed its attacks on the Gaza Strip. In addition to the losses inflicted on the army and the weakening of its elements’ morale, this action has proven the falsehood of the claims made regarding the end of the Palestinian resistance forces’ combat capability.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Faez Al-Duwayri, a regional military and strategic affairs analyst, stated that the ambushes carried out by the Qassam Brigades over the past 96 hours, which include 7 operations, have an unprecedented approach and indicate the tactical development of these forces.
He continued that most of these operations took place in buffer zones under the control of the Israeli army, which confirms the importance of the tunnels and the high ability of Qassam fighters to operate behind enemy lines.
The military expert emphasized that the resistance’s silence over the past month is not considered a retreat; rather, it was the result of tactical changes in the Israeli army that occurred with the arrival of the new Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, who gave absolute priority to military activities to the air force and greatly reduced the role of ground forces.
Al-Duwayri noted that during this period, the resistance did not have the opportunity to carry out its operations, but once again changed its positions in order to take advantage of any tactical gaps of the Zionist enemy.
Al-Duwayri stated that the resistance is capable of continuing to carry out surprise and painful operations against the Zionist regime and can specifically focus on deep strikes that have great political and psychological effects on Israeli society.
He continued that 75 percent of the resistance’s tunnel network is still usable, and this gives the Qassam Brigades elements a lot of room for maneuver to plan and carry out surprise operations.
The message of resistance ambushes
Al-Duwayri believes that the type of weapons used in these ambushes reflects the tactical development of the resistance. Yassin 105 rockets were used in the ambush in Al-Aqlim Al-Tuffah to target personnel carriers, but in Beit Hanoun, an RPG rocket was used to attack an unarmored vehicle.
Writer and political analyst Wissam Afifeh also considered the recent operations of the resistance forces to carry political and military messages in very sensitive circumstances, emphasizing that after several months of war, bloodshed, and a severe siege, the Palestinian resistance carried out this bold operation deep inside the field of the Zionist occupiers, which shows that Tel Aviv’s claims about eliminating the Palestinian resistance are hollow and once again shuffles the cards at the negotiating table.
Afifeh stated that the Beit Hanoun operation in particular marked a turning point in Hamas’s ambushes, as the resistance forces emerged from the tunnels 300 meters from the buffer zone and carried out a precise ambush that killed one Israeli soldier and wounded several others, and the resistance forces escaped unharmed.
He also pointed to the political dimensions of these ambushes, emphasizing that the resistance’s field activities are in line with the political process of its leaders, and that this operation is being used as a lever to pressure the Israeli cabinet to accept Hamas’ recent proposal for a comprehensive ceasefire and a complete withdrawal of forces from Gaza.
Dr. Muhannad Mustafa, another analyst of the Israeli regime’s domestic affairs, believes that the recent Palestinian operations increased the internal divisions in Israeli society and exposed the falsehood of the Israeli army’s claims, even regarding the possibility of releasing prisoners through military means, and that the clashes continued without significant progress and with the Israeli army’s continued defeats. This contradiction indicates a lack of trust in the military commanders of the Zionist regime, especially in a situation where accusations have been made about the army’s complicity with Netanyahu’s plans to achieve political goals in Zionist society.
This analyst of internal affairs of the Zionist regime emphasized that increasing political pressure on Zionist society will further destabilize public opinion and lack the horizon for military operations. Of course, the United States remains the most influential factor in this area, but Zionist society may witness fateful developments such as the spread of civil disobedience in the coming stages.
He stated that the internal division in Israel reduces the cabinet’s ability to end the war, and any fundamental changes on the ground or changes in the US positions could end the war under conditions that are not in Israel’s favor.
