According to the report of Pakistan News Network, quoted by Al Jazeera, Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, pointed out Iran’s readiness to resume some technical negotiations.
He claimed: Iran has facilities and activities that it should clarify about. He added: It is important to start a dialogue with Iran about ways to resume visits. Iran’s point of view should be heard about the necessary preventive measures taken in some damaged facilities. Initial talks with Iran will not include inspectors, but we are optimistic that they will return this year. We have not received any new information from Iran about enriched uranium.
This is while Ismail Beqaei, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said today about the news of the visit of one of the senior officials of the International Atomic Energy Agency to Iran and the possibility of his visit to the damaged nuclear facilities. The trip of the Deputy Director General of the Agency to Tehran is on the agenda and will probably take place in the next few weeks. The purpose of this trip is consultation to prepare a new protocol for cooperation between Iran and the Agency, and there is no plan to visit the nuclear facilities that were damaged during the illegal attacks of the United States and the Zionist regime.
Regarding the latest cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency, Baqaei said: The suspension of Iran’s cooperation with the Agency is a direct result of the illegal and aggressive actions of the Zionist regime and the United States, which by violating the United Nations Charter and international law, dealt a fatal blow to the non-proliferation regime and by attacking Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, severely disrupted the safety and security of these facilities. Accordingly, while condemning the attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, the international community must hold the aggressors accountable for this situation.
Baqaei stressed: Iran is still a member of the Non-Proliferation Treaty and the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement, but in the current situation (after the illegal attacks of the Zionist regime and the United States against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities), the basis and framework of our interaction with the Agency is the recent law approved by the Parliament, which makes cooperation with the Agency dependent on obtaining the necessary permission and coordination with the Supreme National Security Council.
