The latest stance of the Turkish Foreign Minister on Syria and “Bashar Assad”
According to Al Arabiya, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan revealed that Bashar al-Assad received a foreign call asking him to leave his country’s capital, Damascus.
The Turkish Foreign Minister told Al Arabiya on Sunday: “None of the Syrian intelligence officers contacted us about their escape.”
He added that his country has informed both Moscow and Tehran of the need to avoid a return to the 2015 scenario.
Hakan Fidan claimed that Ankara is seeking a democratic civilian power in Syria and stressed that it will help the new power.
The Turkish official added that there is a complete agreement on the formation of a Syrian government that includes all groups and treats minorities well in the country.
According to Al Arabiya, Fidan said: “Turkey will not replace Iran in Syria. I do not think that, given the new situation in Syria, this country will be a place of conflict.”
