Scenes of fire and blood; the Madeleine ship approaches Gaza waters.
According to Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed, as airstrikes and widespread ground operations continue to target residents of the Gaza Strip, and as homes are demolished, figures provided by the Palestinian Ministry of Health indicate that more than a hundred Palestinians have been killed and three hundred injured during the days of Eid al-Adha.
These bloody figures come in the wake of the escalation of Israeli military operations that have engulfed various areas of Gaza from north to south, and amid security and international warnings about the unprecedented worsening of the humanitarian situation.
According to the report, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that the remaining fuel in Gaza hospitals is enough for three days, amid the worsening of the catastrophic health and medical situation in the region, at the same time as Israeli attacks on medical centers.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the “Al-Amal” hospital in Khan Yunis province has been closed, and this comes after the occupying army declared that it was in a dangerous war zone and forced people to leave it, but the medical staff and patients inside the building are still under siege. The Palestinian Ministry of Health called on international parties to establish a safe passage to transport the wounded and ensure immediate medical assistance.
Meanwhile, the Madeleine, a ship belonging to the Freedom Flotilla, which set off from Italy on the 1st of this month, carrying 12 human rights activists, is heading towards Gaza and is only a few hours away from reaching Gaza waters on its mission to break the naval blockade, amid growing concerns among its passengers about the possibility of an Israeli attack or military action that could prevent the completion of their solidarity movement.
The ship is a special symbol in the shadow of the famine and massacre in Gaza for more than twenty months, with no prospect of a ceasefire.
This comes at a time when calls for an end to the war in Gaza have been growing on the international stage, with Pope Tawadros II of the Orthodox Church and his counterpart Pope Leo XIV of the Vatican calling for an immediate end to the war on Gaza.
They expressed their deep concern over the continuing killings in Gaza and called on the international community to fulfill its responsibility towards innocent civilians and to establish safe humanitarian crossings immediately.
According to Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed, Palestinian sources reported the martyrdom of five Palestinians in an attack on refugee tents in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza. The occupying army’s artillery also heavily shelled the eastern areas of Gaza City, and at the same time, Zionist enemy spy and reconnaissance planes flew over the city.
