While thanking this invitation and announcing his readiness to respond to it at a time that will be determined later, al-Sudani emphasized the importance of resuming the activities of the joint committee between Iraq and America regarding the “strategic framework” agreement between the two countries and went on to discuss a number of important positions of cooperation. Bilaterally the successful trip of the Iraqi delegation headed by the Minister of Defense pointed to Washington and consultation about relations with the international coalition known as the fight against terrorism.
According to this report, the Prime Minister of Iraq announced his country’s desire to develop a partnership with the United States of America in various fields of dealing with the consequences of climate change and investing in the energy sector and announced that he welcomes the presence of American companies to invest in Iraq.
Al-Sudani emphasized the importance of joint cooperation with the United States in the security sector to fight ISIS despite the increase in the combat capabilities of the Iraqi security forces and their ability to maintain security throughout Iraq.
Blinken also commended the Iraqi government for taking practical steps in the direction of diversification of energy sources and optimal use of gas and self-sufficiency in this field by signing contracts with Total and connecting electricity with neighboring countries and emphasized that the United States cooperates with Iraq in the cases Various consequences of climate change and infrastructure development will continue and support Iraq’s stability, development and prosperity.
According to the statement of the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Office, al-Sudani left Baghdad for New York on Monday morning (September 18) in order to participate in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly. It is expected that he will meet and consult with senior officials of different countries on the sidelines of this meeting.
