The message of the President of Mexico to Trump with buts and ifs and emphasis on respecting each other’s sovereignty

PNN – Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, who previously said that she was in no rush to send a message, congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the US presidential election and expressed hope that the two countries would cooperate based on “respecting each other’s sovereignty”.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing AFP, Shinbaum announced her “heartfelt congratulations” to Trump on Thursday morning on X social network and added: I am sure that we will cooperate in a coordinated manner based on dialogue and respect for each other’s sovereignty to advance broad bilateral programs.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Shinbaum stated that she will wait until the results are announced in some states and the official statistics of the US elections are published. She said: We are a free and independent country and I am sure we will have good relations with America

In order to reduce Mexicans’ concerns about Trump’s policies, she said: There is no reason to worry. No worries for Mexican compatriots and entrepreneurs. Mexico will always be in the lead.

According to the Guardian, Mexico and the United States have always had complex political relations, but the American presidency will increase tensions between the two countries.

Trump and his Vice President J.D. Vance have announced that they will adopt tough policies in the areas of trade, immigration and security, which will have a great impact on the relationship between Mexico and the United States.

Trump has warned that if Mexico does not prevent “criminals and drug traffickers” from entering the United States, he will impose a 25% tariff on goods imported from Mexico.

Trump, the Republican candidate in the November 5, 2024 presidential election of the United States of America, won with 295 electoral votes and returned to the White House.

Democratic candidate Kamala Harris failed to reach the 270 electoral votes and was defeated. She won 226 electoral votes.
