The Michigan Supreme Court has denied removing Trump’s name from the state’s primaries

The Michigan Supreme Court has denied removing Trump’s name from the state’s primaries.

The Michigan Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected a request to remove Trump’s name from the state’s Republican primary.

According to Reuters, this request was made by four Michigan voters based on the role of the former president of the United States in the events of January 6, 2021 and the attack on the Congress building, but the Michigan Supreme Court declared that this petition cannot be raised in court.

Previously, the Colorado court had declared that, citing Article 14 of the Constitution, Donald Trump’s name cannot be on the ballot as a candidate in the state’s primaries. Trump’s campaign announced that they will appeal to the United States Supreme Court to overturn the decision.

So far, voters and human rights groups have tried to remove Trump’s name from the ballots in more than 12 states, but at least 7 of these complaints have not been successful for various reasons.
