The new commander of the southern region of the Israeli army: Our mission is to destroy Hamas

PNN – The new commander of the Israeli army’s southern region, in his first speech after his appointment, emphasized the “destruction of Hamas” and the “return of prisoners.”

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Sama News Agency, Zionist media reported that Yaniv Assur has been appointed as the new commander of the regime’s army’s southern region.

The transfer of command ceremony was held at a military base near the Gaza coast.

Assur said at the ceremony: Our first task is to destroy Hamas, and along with that, returning our hostages (Zionist prisoners in Gaza) will also be one of the main priorities.

He also emphasized that the Israeli army “will continue its military operations in Gaza with all its might.”

He claimed that these measures were necessary to ensure the security of Israelis.

The appointment followed the resignation of General Yaron Finkelman, who stepped down from his post due to his failure to confront the massive Hamas operation on October 7.

The Palestinian resistance, led by the Hamas movement, launched a unique surprise operation at dawn on October 7, 2023, by attacking military bases and Zionist settlements near the Gaza Strip. While seizing these bases, it captured dozens of Zionists.

After the Palestinian resistance launched Operation Al-Aqsa Storm on October 7th, Israeli authorities, believing that they could destroy the resistance groups and capture the Gaza Strip within a few days began their intense airstrikes on various parts of the region on October 7th.

The occupiers, enraged by the failure to achieve their goals through airstrikes, inevitably committed another crime in late October 2023, as part of the war against the Palestinian resistance, and launched a massive ground invasion into the Gaza Strip with the two declared goals of destroying the Hamas movement and overthrowing its government in the Gaza Strip, and returning the Zionist prisoners from the region. The occupiers also continued airstrikes and artillery attacks in parallel with the ground assault.

However, after 471 days of war, the regime not only failed to achieve its claimed goals, but was also forced to accept a ceasefire agreement.
