The non-support of the Muslim representative of the US Congress to Harris because of Washington’s support for the Gaza war

PNN – “Rashida Tlaib”, a Muslim representative of the American Congress from Michigan, refused to endorse Kamala Harris, the vice president of Joe Biden and the Democratic candidate in the 2024 presidential election, due to the bad performance of the American government in the Gaza war and support for the Zionist regime.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the Guardian newspaper wrote: Tlaib, who is also a member of the so-called “Squad” group, did not endorse Harris at a rally in Detroit, Michigan, where the war in Gaza is a top concern of its largest Arab-speaking Muslim electorate.

As the first American woman of Palestinian descent to be a member of Congress, Tlaib is the only member of the four-member group known as the leftist squad that has refused to endorse the Democratic nominee. Three other members of the group, Ayanna Presley of Massachusetts, Ilhan Omar of Manise Sota and Alexander Ocasio-Cortez of New York, endorsed Harris’s candidacy last July.

The refusal of this American Muslim representative to endorse Harris, while a recent poll shows that 43% of American Muslim voters support Green Party candidate Jill Stein.

Democrats’ plan to thwart Trump’s air campaign before the votes are counted.

After Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton lost to her Republican rival Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election, Democrats blamed Stein voters for the defeat of Democratic candidates in Michigan and Wisconsin. Some Democrats are now worried about a similar scenario in this week’s US elections.

Despite the martyrdom of more than 40,000 people in the aggression of the Israeli regime, the Biden government has been a close ally of this regime during these conflicts and continues to send weapons and limit public criticism of this regime’s actions.

Tlaib has been critical of the Democratic Party’s stance on the increasingly bloody conflict in Gaza and protested the decision after a Palestinian American speaker was barred from attending the party’s convention in Chicago in August.

In an interview with “Zeteo” news website, he said, the choice of speakers showed that they value Israeli children more than Palestinian children.

This Muslim representative added: Our suffering is not seen and both main parties of America ignore it. One party uses our identity to insult and the other party refuses to hear our voice. Where is the common humanity? Ignoring us will not stop the genocide.

In the face of continued protests and the request of his opponents to distance themselves from the policies of the Biden administration and the arms embargo of the Israeli regime, Harris supported the right of the Israeli regime to defend itself and on the other hand stated that the Palestinians need security and their dignity must be preserved.
