The opposition parties of the Turkish president are in the lead in the municipal elections

PNN – The preliminary results of the municipal elections in important cities of Turkey indicate that the candidates of the People’s Republican Party are in the lead.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing regional media, Turkish President Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan said on Monday morning: Municipal elections are not the end for us, but a turning point.

He added: We will analyze the results of the municipal elections frankly and we will review ourselves with constructive criticism.

According to the official statistics, in three important cities of Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, the candidates of the People’s Republican Party managed to get the overwhelming majority of votes.

According to the preliminary results of the counting of votes in Turkish municipal elections, Akram Imamoglu, the politician of the People’s Republican Party, is leading in Istanbul, and other opponents of Recep Tayyip Erdogan are also leading in Ankara and Izmir.

According to the latest news, after counting about half of the votes, Akram Imamoglu, the current mayor of Istanbul, has managed to win more than 50% of the votes.

Murad Kurum, his main rival who is supported by Erdogan, has so far won 41.2 percent of the votes.

In Ankara, Mansoor Yafash, the current mayor from the People’s Republican Party, has won 56.3 percent of the votes and has surpassed Turgut Altinuk from the Justice and Development Party.

Meanwhile, some unofficial reports indicate that the counting of more than 80% of the votes in Turkey has been completed and the results indicate the victory of the People’s Party in 11 provinces.

Following this news, people in these provinces started to rejoice and dance.

The unofficial results of the votes show that the People’s Republican Party has won the elections in the western provinces of Turkey, including Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Mersin and many other provinces.

Turkey’s opposition lost to Erdogan in last year’s presidential election, however, with the opposition’s victory, they will have high hopes for the next presidential election in 2028.

An important factor that could be in Imamoglu’s favor was the decision of the “Refa New” party to present its candidate in Istanbul; An Islamic party that formed an alliance with Erdogan in the last presidential election.

According to observers, this election is primarily a “male marathon”, because the percentage of women’s participation among the candidates of the Justice and Development Party does not exceed 2.2%, the People’s Republican Party 9.3%, and the People’s Democratic Party 31%.
