PNN – The US House of Representatives rejected the attempt to condemn Rashidah Tlaib, the Democratic and Palestinian representative of this legislative body, by the extremist representative of the Republican Party.
According to Pakistan News Network, efforts to officially condemn the American-Palestinian lawmaker for his stances on the Gaza war were rejected with broad support from representatives of both the Democratic and Republican parties.
According to “Al-Jazeera” report, the US House of Representatives rejected the attempt to condemn “Rashida Tlaib”, the Palestinian American representative of Congress, a democrat who has defended the rights of Palestinians in the midst of the Zionist regime’s war against Gaza.
The proposal to convict Talib was presented by “Margery Taylor Green”, a far-right representative of the American Congress, and it was stopped with 222 votes against against 186 votes in favor; In addition, 23 Republicans also joined the Democrats against the conviction of Tlaib in opposing this action. In contrast, the Democrats’ attempt to censure Greene for making the proposal was also rejected.
As the only American member of the US Congress of Palestinian descent, Tlaib had criticized the action of this Republican representative, saying that it was rooted in prejudices against the Zionist regime. He had previously stated against the proposal for his conviction: I will not be harassed and I will not allow anyone to humiliate me. I will not be silent.
Tlaib once again expressed his support for Palestine and said that he still wants to establish an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and to send humanitarian aid to civilians.
Tlaib called Green’s proposal for his condemnation “ineffectual” and stated: His proposed resolution is completely Islamophobic and basically attacks Jewish defenders who are anti-war and want peace.
Green did not comment on the Democrats’ motion to convict him, but he openly criticized dozens of Republicans who voted against his motion to convict Tlaib.
Tlaib is one of 12 progressive US lawmakers who introduced a resolution in Congress last month calling for “de-escalation and an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.”
This Congress legislator had described the situation in Gaza as “terrible” with more than 2,300,000 civilians after the barbaric attacks of the Zionist regime, and asked the President and the Secretary of State of the United States to take immediate measures to establish a ceasefire. He called the actions of the Zionist regime against Palestinian civilians a “war crime”.
