PNN – As part of Washington’s ongoing policy of pressure and sanctions against countries around the world, Iraqi sources have reported what they describe as the most extensive U.S. sanctions package in recent years targeting political, economic, and military figures in Iraq.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, Iraqi sources revealed that the United States intends to impose new sanctions on Iraqi political, economic, and military figures, as well as several companies.

According to the report, during their recent visits to Iraq, U.S. officials informed Iraqi authorities of Washington’s intention to add the names of certain institutions and individuals who are allegedly involved in providing financial support to foreign-aligned groups to its sanctions list.
A source in Iraq’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the sanctions list will include prominent figures from military groups who also have representatives and blocs in the Iraqi Parliament. It was also noted that the sanctions will be announced by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
The sources added that the unjust U.S. sanctions will also target several companies active in the energy and logistical services sectors.
The report also states that the United States had previously notified Iraq through specific channels that it plans to adopt a new policy aimed at redefining its relationship with Baghdad. According to the available information, this sanctions package will be larger and more extensive than previous ones.
