The possibility of tension between Saudi Arabia and the United States over the purchase of Rafale fighter jets

Pak Sahafat – The purchase of the Rafale fighter jets would allow the Saudi Air Force to have a more diverse fleet, however, this potentially large order could spark tensions with the United States.

According to Pak Sahafat International News Agency, news sources reported on Monday that Saudi Arabia is trying to strengthen its air force with French-made Rafale fighters, a move that may cause tension with the United States.

According to news sources, Saudi Arabia is looking to buy 150 Rafale fighter jets from the French company Dassault after rejecting the request to buy the F-35 fighter jet by the United States. America has done this action in order to support the military superiority (regime) of Israel

According to this report, the Saudi Air Force has been relying on American and European fighters such as F-15 and Eurofighter for years, but now it has turned to France to strengthen its capabilities.

The purchase of Rafale fighters allows Saudi Arabia to have a more diverse fleet. However, the potentially large order could spark further tensions with the US, which has been wary of arms sales to the country.

Richard Abulafia, an aviation analyst, said: “The Saudis are getting the F-15 fighter from the United States, and of course they want the F-35 as well. But since they are eager to dual source their needs; they want to buy another aircraft.”

So far, this fighter has been used in the air force of Greece, England, Italy, Austria, Germany, Spain, and Oman. Rafale is a delta-wing multipurpose fighter. This fighter performs a variety of combat missions, including air superiority, attacking deep targets, and identifying and attacking enemy ships.

The media also reported on Saudi Arabia’s moves to participate in the multinational project to build an advanced fighter. The “Global Defense News” website quoted the English newspaper “Financial Times” as saying that companies from England, Japan and Italy are working to develop a new fighter. This program plans to deliver the first planes by 2035. Britain, Italy and Japan have formed a trinational alliance.
