The President of Algeria at the United Nations: We will not stop supporting the cause of Palestine.
According to Al Jazeera, Abdel Majid Taboun, the president of Algeria, gave a speech at the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
In his words, he said: Conflicts and crises in the world have reached an unprecedented level and we demand a new world order based on equality. The Security Council is incapable of fulfilling its role in maintaining international peace and security and preventing the use of force, and we demand to join the Security Council to pursue the goals and aspirations of the people of the African continent and the Arab world.
The President of Algeria further added: Activating the main role of the United Nations is a fundamental factor in promoting equality between countries.
In his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, Tabun also mentioned the issue of Palestine and said in this connection: We will not stop supporting just goals, especially the cause of Palestine, and we look forward to the realization of justice for the Palestinian people in the face of occupation. We reiterate our commitment to the Arab Peace Initiative for the stability of the Middle East.
According to the president of Algeria, the international community must accept its responsibility to enable the Palestinian people to determine their destiny and regain their rights.
The President of Algeria said about the role of the United Nations in the Palestinian issue: We demand the formation of a General Assembly to grant full membership to the State of Palestine in the United Nations, and we ask the United Nations Security Council to issue a resolution on adopting a two-state solution and stopping the unilateral actions of the occupiers. We adhere to the Arab initiative to end the occupation, which is the main cause of instability in the region.
At the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Abdul Majid Tebun also mentioned the issue of Libya and other African countries and said: We confirm our support for the efforts of the United Nations to achieve a political solution in Libya. We reaffirm our position in rejecting the use of force to resolve the conflict in Mali. We are also committed to the need to return to Niger’s constitutional order through peaceful means. Military intervention in Niger will have serious consequences for the region. Regarding Sudan, the language of dialogue should prevail to end the war situation in Sudan.
