Some former police officials who were involved in the January 6 attack on Congress have called Trump’s promise to pardon the rebels “treason”.

Former American sergeant Aquilino Gonell, who was wounded on the day of the attack, told the Washington Post: Trump’s possible order to pardon the rebels is treason and a dagger in the heart.

Former congressional police officer Harry Dunn also said that pardoning the rebels despite the violent acts they committed shows the lack of accountability of the Commander-in-Chief.
