The removal of the commander of the American frigate for the mistake of closing the gun camera

PNN – The commander of a U.S. Navy destroyer that is part of the Middle East-based aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt has been fired about four months after a video surfaced showing him firing a gun with a camera mounted in reverse.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network from “Washington Times”, this image caused significant ridicule of the US Navy in social networks.

The San Diego Tribune reported that Cameron Yast, commander of the destroyer USS John McCain, was fired on Friday.

The U.S. Navy said in a statement that Yast was dismissed “due to lack of confidence in his ability to command the guided-missile destroyer” currently stationed in the Gulf of Oman.

In April, a photo posted on US Navy social media showed Yast firing a weapon with a reverse camera.

US Marines shared a photo on social media of a Marine firing a gun aboard the USS Boxer, the military news agency Stress and Stripes reported, writing: The picture is crystal clear.

This message has now been removed from social media. The US Navy wrote on social media: Thank you for pointing out the error in our gun camera in a previous message. The image has been removed pending a military investigation.
