The reopening of the Damascus embassy in Riyadh with the presence of the Syrian consul

Pak Sahafat – With the return of the Syrian diplomatic delegation to Saudi Arabia, the embassy of Damascus in Riyadh was reopened in order to improve relations between the two countries.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, quoted by Syria News, the Syrian embassy in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, has reopened and resumed its activities.

According to this report, the Syrian diplomatic delegation returned to Riyadh yesterday along with “Ehsan Roman”, the consul of this country. The reopening of the Syrian embassy in Riyadh was attended by Ehsan Reman and a number of Syrians living in Riyadh, Jeddah and Al-Dammam.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia had previously issued a statement announcing the beginning of the activities of its diplomatic delegation in Syria. In this statement, it was stated that the said decision was taken in order to strengthen the brotherly relations between the two countries and strengthen the security and stability of the region.

Earlier, knowledgeable sources in Damascus announced in a conversation with Rai Al Youm newspaper that Saudi Arabia and Syria have completed the necessary steps to appoint their ambassadors in Riyadh and Damascus.

These sources further added: Damascus has decided to appoint Ayman Sosan, the deputy foreign minister of Syria, as the country’s ambassador in Riyadh. The mentioned sources did not mention the name and identity of the Saudi ambassador in Syria.

These sources announced a few days ago that it is expected that after the return of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to Damascus and the end of his trip to China, the necessary orders will be issued to appoint an ambassador and resume political relations between Damascus and Riyadh.

Ayman Sosan is a Syrian diplomat and politician who has been the deputy foreign minister since 2014. Before that, he worked as the ambassador of Syria in Belgium and the European Union until 2014.

Saudi Arabia and Syria decided to restore their political relations to normal and reopen their embassies a few months ago. It was in June of this year that Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Maqdad left Saudi Arabia for a two-day trip at the invitation of his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan.

The Syrian Foreign Minister traveled to Saudi Arabia last May 17 to participate in the Arab League Summit. It should be noted that this is the third visit of the Syrian Foreign Minister to Saudi Arabia in the past few months.

Earlier, Bassem Mansour, Director General of Syrian Airlines, announced that Saudi Arabia agreed to Syria’s request to restart flights between the two countries.

He pointed out that Syrian Airlines and Ajanha Al-Sham will take measures to resume flights.

Bassem Mansour emphasized that the Arab Aviation Organization affiliated to the Arab League has announced the full return of its activities, and this will activate flights to Damascus and encourage airlines to cross Syrian airspace.
