The reopening of the Qatari embassy in Syria after 13 years.
According to Sputnik, the Qatari Foreign Ministry issued a statement announcing that the activities of the country’s embassy in Damascus will resume next Tuesday, 13 years after the severance of all diplomatic relations with the former Syrian regime.
The statement stated that Qatar expresses its support for the Syrian people and the ongoing developments in the country. The Qatari Foreign Ministry announced the appointment of Khalifa Abdullah Al Mahmoud Al-Sharif as the country’s chargé d’affaires in Damascus.
The statement stated that the resumption of the Qatari embassy’s activities in conjunction with the developments in Syria reflects the country’s support and efforts to assist the Syrian people to pass the transitional stage.
A delegation from Qatar had previously traveled to Damascus.
