The request of the European Parliament to FIFA and UEFA to condemn Israel.
According to InsideworldFootball, several representatives of the European Parliament sent a letter to FIFA and UEFA, demanding the suspension of the Israeli football team and its clubs from participating in international competitions.
This letter was sent on February 15 and 13 members of the European Parliament representing Spain, Ireland and Germany signed it.
In a part of this letter, we read: As members of the European Parliament and political representatives of the people of this continent, we ask FIFA, UEFA, and other competent institutions to take decisive action against the continuous violation of human rights in Palestine. Both FIFA and UEFA are committed to promoting values. Undoubtedly, all (these values) are being violated today in the Gaza Strip. Football should not help justify the occupation and destruction of the Palestinian people.
This letter continues: For these reasons and following historical examples such as the veto of the apartheid regime in South Africa, we want the immediate suspension of Israel as a pressure lever. The Israeli team and its football clubs should be banned from all European and international competitions until the end of this genocide.
More than 29,000 Palestinians have been martyred since the beginning of the Zionist regime’s attacks against the Gaza Strip on October 7 following Hamas’ Al-Aqsa storm operation.
