PNN – Another member of the British Labor Party resigned from the party because of his opposition to the positions of the leader of the party regarding the ceasefire in the Gaza war.
According to Pakistan News Network, “Jess Phillips” is one of several representatives of the British Labor Party who resigned due to the position of Kerr Starmer, the leader of this opposition party.
The Guardian newspaper wrote that in his resignation letter, Phillips explained the reason for joining the other 56 members of the party who supported the bill proposed by the Scottish National Party for a ceasefire in Gaza.
In this letter, Phillips mentioned his concerns and sadness for the “existing situation in Israel and Gaza” and said: “Everywhere I turn, I see nothing but that the current military action is the only hope for peace and security for everyone in the Middle East and now It endangers the world.”
Earlier, 11 other members of this party had also resigned.
Starmer, who has been under pressure from Labor to call for a de-escalation of the conflict in the Gaza war, told reporters his focus was on stopping the suffering in Gaza and not on the “individual positions” of party members.
The Labor Party has supported the British government’s position on a pause in the attacks in order to provide humanitarian aid and medical care to the people of Gaza.
A spokesman for the party said the party “fully understands the calls for a ceasefire. Everyone wants to see an end to this cycle of violence and suffering. “We want to see the release of the hostages and help those who need it the most.”

The spokesman of the Labor party continued to claim: “But a ceasefire at the moment will only stop this conflict and keep the prisoners in Gaza, and make Hamas have the necessary infrastructure and capabilities to carry out an attack like the October 7th attack.” have.”
He also said: “One must always adhere to international laws and protect the lives of civilians.” Labor is calling for a pause in humanitarian aid in the war. This is the best and most realistic way to address the humanitarian emergency in Gaza and is the common position of our main allies in the United States and the European Union.
Clashes in Gaza started following the surprise and large-scale operation “Al-Aqsa Storm” by Hamas against the positions of the Zionist regime on October 7.
According to the Palestinian resistance, this attack was carried out following the violation of the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the increasing violence of the Zionist settlers against the Palestinian people.
Since then, the Zionist regime has targeted the Gaza Strip with its numerous bombings and by cutting off water, electricity and gas, it has placed it under human siege. Following international diplomatic efforts, a few days ago, some humanitarian aid reached this area from the Rafah border.
In this conflict, the Zionist regime has committed numerous war crimes by bombing civilian buildings, mosques, universities, churches, hospitals, and residential buildings, as well as by using prohibited weapons, including bombs containing white phosphorus.
The complete destruction of some areas and the displacement of the people of Gaza have been the effects of the Zionist regime’s attacks and the death of nearly 10,000 civilians in this region.
Regional and international diplomatic efforts to establish a ceasefire in Gaza continue.
