PNN – “Modern Diplomacy” in the analysis of the new geopolitical landscape of West Asia stated that if the European Union really wants to play a positive role between Iran and the Arab countries in the field of facilitating regional integration, it should use its positive diplomacy and encourage cooperation.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, “Greg Pence”, the analyst of this European analytical news site, believes that the improvement of relations between Iran and the Arab countries in the midst of complex crises in the Middle East is an important development that can lead the region to greater cooperation and reduction of tensions.
This change, which is mainly based on political realism and common interests, is considered a vital step to achieve medium-term stability between Iran and the Arab world, as the region was already embroiled in ideological rivalries and security tensions.
The report states that the countries of the region have now come to the conclusion that cooperation in economic, security and countering common threats can be beneficial for both sides. Most importantly, the main issue is not only the actions of the regional countries, but also the intelligent involvement of Europe in turning this process into a sustainable cooperation.
The author asserts that during the past century, the relations between Iran and the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf were accompanied by ideological tensions and regional rivalries: But in recent years, these relations have changed from confrontation to cooperation to achieve common interests.
This change in policies, especially in the field of regional security and humanitarian crises, is due to the understanding of the new regional realities by both sides. Both sides have come to the conclusion that the continuation of regional crises and wars only benefit the extremist groups. Especially in the Persian Gulf, Arab countries and Iran are finding ways to cooperate in the field of maritime security, counter-terrorism and energy security.
The report adds that considering the current situation, Europe can play a vital role in facilitating cooperation and reducing tensions between Iran and Arab countries and act as an active facilitator in diplomatic processes and not just as a neutral observer.
One of Europe’s effective tools in this field is the use of economic incentives because Iran and Arab countries are constantly seeking to attract foreign investments and strengthen economic relations.
