The rubble of genocide in Gaza; the burial of humanity in Rome.

The rubble of genocide in Gaza; the burial of humanity in Rome.

The funeral of Pope Francis has attracted a lot of attention in recent days as a major global event with the presence of senior officials from various countries and the media. From French President Emmanuel Macron to senior officials from the European Union and even former US President Donald Trump, all were present at the ceremony.

In their speeches, these people mentioned the late Pope’s personality as a symbol of humanity and morality and introduced themselves as followers of his ideas. Western media also introduced Pope Francis as a moral and philanthropic role model in their reports.

But behind these humanitarian displays and emotional speeches, global developments on the day of the late Pope’s funeral clearly showed that the positions of the leaders of Western countries are merely a cover for their political and economic interests. While many people around the world, from different religions, mourned the death of Pope Francis, a global figure and a symbol of peace and humanity, Western leaders sought their own interests in the ceremony and turned the ceremony into a place to advance political goals and blackmail in various crises.

Blackmail on the Sidelines
Apart from their speeches full of praise for the Pope’s personality and humanitarian philosophy, Western leaders made no effort to show real solidarity with the Pope’s peace-seeking messages at the ceremony. Specifically, Trump showed in his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that he was more interested in economic and political opportunities for himself than in remembering Pope Francis.

In addition, European officials, although they were present at the ceremony in an apparent mourning manner, cannot present themselves as true followers of the Pope’s school of peace and altruism due to their open support for war in some parts of the world, especially the killing of women and children by the Zionist regime.

Gaza and the Death of Humanity
Pope Francis has always been sensitive to the suffering of the Palestinian people and has criticized the Zionist regime’s atrocities against the Palestinian people in his numerous speeches. He particularly emphasized the catastrophic situation in Gaza and the atrocities committed in this region and has repeatedly called on the international community to address this humanitarian crisis. On the day of the Pope’s funeral, Gaza was in a critical situation, and reports from international organizations indicated the catastrophic humanitarian situation in this region.

However, on the same day, no reaction was observed from Western leaders to the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza and the deplorable situation of the Palestinian people.

The Zionist regime continued to bomb Gaza continuously, and the people of this region were struggling with the threat of famine, disease, and hunger. None of the leaders of Western countries who were present at the Pope’s ceremony reacted to these atrocities and even supported the actions of the Zionist regime in some cases.

Burial of humanity and human dignity
While the leaders of Western countries tried to present themselves as supporters of humanity and morality at the funeral of Pope Francis, in practice their positions were not only in contradiction with the principles and messages of the Pope, but also showed deception and duplicity in their policies. Instead of truly paying attention to human problems and supporting oppressed people in different parts of the world, the Western leaders sought their own political and economic interests at this ceremony.

This behavior showed that instead of following the principles and ideas of Pope Francis, Westerners remained silent about the crimes of the Zionist regime and, in some cases, even supported it. Such an approach shows that the funeral of Pope Francis was not only a lack of a religious leader, but also a deceptive show on the part of Western leaders who have not smelled any true humanity and morality.

It must be said that this ceremony was a symbol of the burial of humanity and human dignity; Because, by their presence at this ceremony, Western leaders clearly showed that they have never adhered to the moral and humane principles that Pope Francis emphasized in practice. These leaders not only falsely presented themselves as supporters of peace and humanity, but in practice, by remaining silent and supporting the crimes of the Zionist regime, they considered themselves complicit in the massacre of human beings.
