The rumor of an assassination attempt on Putin turned out to be a lie/what was the truth of the matter?

PNN – Rumors are circulating on Iranian social media following the fire of a Russian-made Auros car on the streets of Moscow, claiming that it was an assassination attempt on the country’s president; however, investigations show that this rumor is false.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, some people on social media, following the mischief of some English-language media outlets such as the British Sun, claimed by publishing a film that one of the limousines in Russian President Vladimir Putin’s convoy exploded, and by attributing this to “malicious intent against Putin,” they claimed that the Russian “Ministry of Defense and War” (!) had issued specific orders. However, examining this film and finding out the truth of the incident shows the falsehood of this rumor.

What was the truth of the matter?

The footage was first released by the Russian Telegram channel SHOT. According to the report, at around 12:45 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025, an Aurus Senat car caught fire on Sertenka Street.

The Telegram channel, which republished the video and its content in some other Russian media outlets, continued by writing: First, the car’s engine caught fire, and then the fire spread to the interior of the luxury car.

The Telegram channel Shot continued its report on the incident, writing: Eyewitnesses called rescuers. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived at the burning Auros car and began extinguishing the fire. According to initial reports, there were no casualties in the incident.

Gazeta newspaper was among the Russian media outlets that published the report, citing the Telegram channel, adding that the price of the car is about 30 million rubles.

According to the official exchange rate of the Central Bank of Russia, one US dollar is equal to 83.68 rubles – the Russian currency – and at this rate, the Auros car has a price equivalent to more than $358,500.

Not every round is a walnut!

“Auros” is the favorite car of the Russian President and used by him and other senior officials of the country, but with the opening of the mass production line of this car, ordinary Russian citizens have also been able to buy this expensive luxury car; therefore, naturally, a large number of these cars are in the hands of ordinary Russian people; therefore, not every Auros car necessarily belongs to Russian officials and anyone in this country can drive this car.

Other evidence that the claim is false

Another interesting point in the incorrect attribution of this film to the claim of assassination was that the rescue forces and the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, which are present at the scene of incidents like the emergency services and fire brigade in Iran, were present at the scene of the incident. At the time of extinguishing the fire, ordinary citizens were passing by the scene of the incident, and the normal traffic of citizens indicates that a normal incident had occurred. Because if it had been a specific security incident, a different situation would have prevailed on the street.

Another thought-provoking point is the quote on social media from the Russian “Ministry of Defense and War” (?!), which does not exist in reality, and this was another proof that this rumor was false.

Putin hints at Britain in continuing Ukraine conflict

The rumor of an assassination attempt on Putin came just over a day after the Russian president made a statement during a trip to the Murmansk region in the Arctic. During the trip, Putin emphasized the victory in Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine and said: We will finish them off.

He also pointed to Britain’s role in continuing the conflict despite Trump’s actions to resolve the Ukraine crisis, saying: Trustees from Europe, especially from England, Mr. Johnson, the former Prime Minister of that country, came to convince the Ukrainian authorities that they should continue the armed struggle until the last Ukrainian, with the aim of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia.

Psychological warfare

Russia, which has launched special military operations in Ukraine after its security concerns were ignored, especially in light of the prospect of Ukraine joining NATO, has since been exposed to the West’s hybrid warfare onslaught, and the spread of such rumors in Russia’s friendly country – Iran – is considered part of psychological warfare.

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman announced: The West’s all-out ideological offensive against Russia has failed and we will successfully overcome these circumstances.

Maria Zakharova added: I’m not talking about military operations, this is not my area of expertise, but the West’s ideological attack against Russia was completely planned.

He stated: In the West, they sought to pit people against each other, to pit generations against each other, with the economic problems they created for Russia, and they thought that we would not survive the attack, but we experienced these conditions and will overcome them successfully.
